To make the most of your experience at The Hidden Sanctuary, here are some simple steps to help you prepare for your treatment and ensure you receive the full benefits of your session, and advice on what to expect post treatment.

Before Your Appointment

  • Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water before your session to support circulation and detoxification.

  • Eat Lightly – Avoid heavy meals right before your treatment, but don’t arrive on an empty stomach. Particularly if you are receiving acupucture it is advised to eat a little something so blood sugars don’t drop in treatment.

  • Wear Comfortable Clothing – Wear something easy to change in and out of.

  • Arrive a Few Minutes Early – We are hidden! Give yourself time to settle in, relax, and transition into a calm state before your session begins. We have two sofas outside our treatment rooms where you can relax, take your shoes off and take a breath before you come in.

For First-Time Visitors

  • Complete Your Intake Form – If this is your first appointment, please fill out any necessary forms beforehand to allow us time to tailor your treatment.

  • Share Any Health Concerns – Let us know about any injuries, conditions, or sensitivities so we can adapt the session to your needs.

Additional Considerations

  • Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine – These can dehydrate the body and may reduce the effectiveness of your treatment.

  • Avoid Strenuous Exercise Right Before – Give your body time to be in a relaxed state rather than in recovery mode.

  • Avoid Inflammatory Foods - We recommend avoiding foods such as processed sugars, refined carbohydrates, and excessive dairy or fried foods, as these can contribute to inflammation and hinder the body's natural healing process. Instead, opt for nourishing, whole foods that support recovery and overall well-being.

  • Plan for Some Quiet Time After – If possible, avoid scheduling anything too demanding immediately after your session to allow your body to fully absorb the benefits.

Aftercare

It is important to allow your body time to rest, reset and heal after treatments at The Hidden Sanctuary. Where possible, allow yourself time for your body to process the treatment and recuperate.

For all treatments we recommend the following advice:

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, to help flush out the toxins and aid with the healing process.

  • Stay warm: This will optimise muscle recovery and blood flow to promote healing.

  • Avoid strenuous activity: Including exercise for 24 hours.

  • Allow yourself time to relax: Listen to your body’s needs, things will take a while to settle.

  • Avoid excessive stimulants: Caffeine, alcohol, and sugary / processed food for at least 24 hours.

  • Increase gentle movement: Light stretching, walking, or gentle yoga can help circulation and enhance the benefits of your treatment.

For optimal results, consistency is key in your treatment journey. If you are addressing a chronic condition, it’s beneficial to plan for multiple sessions, as deep-seated patterns in the body take time to shift.
